My Story

Paul has a BSc (Hons) Acupuncture from the University of Greenwich. He studied at the renowned International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), the UK's oldest acupuncture college, from where he also gained a Licentiate in Acupuncture.

A lifelong student of Eastern philosophy and mind/body cultivation approaches led Paul to study East Asian mind, body and healing disciplines intensively with internationally respected Master Lam Kam Chuen for over 20 years. Paul teaches Tai Chi Chuan, Qigong and other traditional arts taught to him by Master Lam to promote health and well-being. Whilst leading classes, Paul observed the profound beneficial effects his teaching could bring to students' life and health. This realisation brought Paul to study at ICOM to deepen his knowledge of the philosophies underlying Chinese medicine and mind/body cultivation practices.

Being a pragmatic philosopher by nature,  Paul knows it is natural to experience change. His experience and knowledge of meditative techniques can help you to adjust to new ways of being. He is no stranger to the change process. He has had a previous career in Change Management as a finance professional (CGMA/ACMA). Additionally, Paul has taught Tai Chi Chuan, Daoist philosophy, meditation and Qigong in both Further and Higher Education settings and is a qualified teacher of adults (PTLLS). He holds an enhanced DBS check.

Paul set up Standing Tree Clinic to help men, women, and children lead their best healthful life. He uses classical acupuncture and the energy arts he continues to study with Master Lam to support his patients.  Every visitor to the clinic is an individual. You will be treated holistically for your physical, emotional and energetic presentation alongside specific symptom(s) you bring.

Paul is also part of the therapist team at the Parkinson's Centre for Integrated Therapy based at the University of Kent.  He treats patients holistically, applying therapies that include acupuncture, Japanese meridian therapy, moxibustion, cupping, Qigong & Tai Chi, and auricular acupuncture with compassion and empathy, working with patients to optimise treatments.

I was hardly able to walk when I went to see Paul, due to arthritis in my left knee. After a lengthy, and thorough consultation, the needles were inserted, removed and I hobbled home. During the session Paul was reassuring, caring and patient. The following morning I was amazed to find I could walk with virtually no pain! Wow! Going back next week for more work on my knee, and once my knee is sorted, I might get work on my shoulders. Margaret
